I'm very disappointed with the battery life on my new S22 ultra,. It doesn't last as long as my previous S20 which is 2 years old. Anyone else having problems with it? I've taken to running power saver just to make it last the working day.

Be careful of the vampire apps. Things like the streaming apps, Netflix, Spotify and amazon prime. Then there is the king of apps Facebook or meta. Put them all to sleep.
Wifi and Bluetooth will constantly look to want to connect to something. If not used turn them off.
Dark mode will help.
Finally check the phones device care and see what you need to put to sleep.
Adaptive lighting.. turn it off and set the brightness manually.

If you used SmartSwitch to setup your phone. You could have apps or services with corrupted data that needs clearing from the Partition Cache

Wiping cache partition fixes some of the bugs and improve performance by removing unwanted cache files.

Turn off your phone.

Connect your phone with a USB cable
to PC or another Samsung mobile

You will see the charging icon on your screen.
Wait till it shows charging with battery percentage.

Next, press and hold the Volume up and Side key simultaneously.
You can press the volume up button just before the Side key.
The Samsung Logo followed by
Samsung Galaxy appears on the
screen.

At this point, release the keys
Phone will boot into Android Recovery mode

In Android recovery mode, using Volume keys, choose "Wipe Cache
Partition" .

Then press Side Key to Confirm by selecting "Yes" and then press Side Key

You get "cache wipe complete" at the
bottom of the screen
Restart the phone to complete the
process

On my S21 ultra I feel after the recent couple of updates the dark mode drains more battery then light mode and so changed to light mode now.

I would do the following.

Back up only your photos, videos, messages etc to Google One.

Don't backup your settings or apps.

Factory RESET the phone get your photos and stuff from black up and manually install your apps from scratch as and when you need them.

Keep everything adaptive or auto in settings.

Don't try to dumb the phone down. Let it do its thing.

Also for some reason I feel dark mode is worse for battery after the last few updates so try light mode.

When you pay all that money for a flagship device, why should you have to limit what you do to save batteries, when they put better batteries on their cheaper ones, S phones are *****, they don't even recognise Android Auto in your cars, the A phones do, Avoid S phones like a Rash 🤨
