Adapative refresh rate problem

Why does adaptive refresh rate even exist if jt cant work under minimum brightness settings ( s21 and s22 ultra user here). I though they had fixed it for the s22 ultra but no, if brightness is ever set below roughly 15% brightness the refresh rate is stuck on 120hz and it will never change, even while watching 30fps content.

Because they rushed the S22 out just look all over the forums full of complaints about various bugs/software malfunction

yep thats why i sent a error report too. weirdly enough if i use extra dim then the adaptive refresh feature still works as intended so idk why it doesn't work with minimum brightness naturally

The usual nay sayers. I just started using my S22 Ultra today and its everything as good or better than the S21 Ultra so far. For an early release it's looking solid to me, no slow downs, hitches or screen issues. The only negatives I can point out so far is battery life seems less impressive to when I first got my S21 Ultra and during benchmarks in 3DMark there appears some minor texture glitches in one of the game renders.

I am unsure if you are calling me a nay sayer or not but It's just weird considering i can get around this software limitation by using extra dim, I am just saying it should just work as intended because clearly brightness isnt an issue if it can work with extra dim. Other than that nitpick and as you said - battery life worse than s21 Ultra - I am loving this device

Sorry it wasn't directed at you, just a generalising of all the complaints people seem to explode over forums upon any Samsung phone release.

In relation to the refresh, well this was discussed a while back with the s21 ultra and shown that in order to benefit from the adaptive refresh, ambient light needed to be above a certain level. This in turn entails a certain screen brightness that would ensure this.

I see, even then if extra dim could allow the adaptive nature to work fine maybe there is a workaround they could do, just a thought

Hi all,

I just received my galaxy ultra yesterday but found that the battery was draining really fast more than it should be. So by curiosity went to the developer options enabled the option to show the refresh rate and I was amazed to see that the screen is always at 120hz no matter what, in a static image is at 120, in the home screen is at 120 only when it's in the photo app or in the AOD it lowers to 60hz. Basically the phone it's working in full values or 120 or 60hz and it's not adaptive at all despite the adaptive option being selected.

Already factory reseted the phone once but to no avail. This seems to be a bug...

Any ideas?

I have the same issue as well, so it seems it's another bug... Shall this be reported to tech support as well?
