Galaxy S21 SeriesSince upgrading to the Galaxy S21 5G, I am having difficulties making and receiving phone calls at home, due to the signal fluctuating. I am on the Three network. The phone often connects the call if the signal is adequate, but then the call fails when the signal falls away. My previous phone - an eight year old Nexus 4 - had no problems, so I'm not sure that the problem is Three's fault.
It is embarrassing to tell people that you have a state of the art phone, but can't answer phone calls.
I have enabled Wi-Fi Calling but the phone makes the decision whether or not to use it. I think my problem would be solved if I could select certain Wi-Fi networks on which the phone would always use Wi-Fi Calling by default, whatever the signal strength at the beginning of the call. One of these would of course be my own home network. I don't see a way of setting this up at the moment.
I realise this may be something for Android to implement. If so can you please supply contact details so I can make this suggestion to their developers. I would be delighted to Beta Test this feature if asked.
Many thanks in advance

Galaxy S21 SeriesWelcome to the family, @Captain Sensible !
The SIM you're using in the S21, is this the same SIM you used in your Nexus 4, or are they two separate SIMs? Also, does this occur with all contacts or a selective few?

Galaxy S21 SeriesHi Kholal
Yes, the same sim from the Nexus 4 went into the S21.
Every call that I make or receive seems to suffer the same problem, and occurs for all contacts, with the caller saying they can't understand what I'm saying, and the call often disconnects completely.
I am with the Three network in the UK. They have what they call Super-Voice, which is supposed to give improved voice calls. This uses VoLTE, which I have now turned off as an experiment, but it is too soon to say if it has made a difference. In theory it should make things worse.
If the signal is extremely poor at the time the call comes in, the phone switches to Wi-Fi calling and works fine. But the signal varies in strength, and often a call which connects conventionally can then fail as the signal strength drops. It was this which made me wonder if I can set the phone so that it always uses Wi-Fi calling when connected to a certain Wi-Fi network or networks. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to.
Is there any way I can put this forward for incorporating in future upgrades?
Thank you for your reply.
Dave

Galaxy S21 SeriesHmm, that is a little strange. But, it may be an issue with the SIM. I know it sounds a bit strange as the SIM worked completely fine with your previous phone, but sometimes an old SIM can have this affect. Are you able to get a new SIM out to you, so you can test this?
Also, as for your suggestion, I'm unable to see anything regarding this being implemented in the future. But I can look into this for you, if you'd like?

Galaxy S21 SeriesHi KholaI
The Nexus is eight years old, but the sim is only two years old, as a replacement after I lost a previous phone. Is that old in sim terms? I could try getting hold of a replacement though, but it would take a few days.
"But I can look into this for you, if you'd like?"
Yes please, that would be great if you can. Surely I am not the only person who lives in an area with a poor signal and would benefit from such a feature.
Cheers

Galaxy S21 SeriesThank you Neil
I am theoretically in a 5G area, but don't get a 5G signal in our home.
I have turned it off to see if it helps.

Galaxy S21 SeriesThanks NikolayD
How old was your previous sim?
Mine is only 2 years old.
Nevertheless it sounds like it's worth a try, but I'll probably wait until I can get into a Three shop.
Cheers
