UK S21 Ultra Unlocked I bought just before New year still on May security patch?

Hello, I have had many Samsung Galaxy phones, but this is my first post!
Just a little puzzled. I bought my Galaxy S21 Ultra 256gb (Unlocked) from Laptops Direct on Boxing day. It was deliverd a few days later, and has been online since just before New Year's eve. But it still has yet to have a single update. It's still on Android 11 and May 2021 security patch. I've now had the phone about 2 weeks but still no update? What really takes the ***** is my S20, which I will soon be selling on Ebay, has just received Android 12 and December's security patch, when my S21 is running on software nearly a year out of date. Is this normal? I don't really want to use the Samsung switch app to force an update.
Any ideas?

Thank you in advance 🙂

@Matthew-Long

What does your Service provider software version show?

Settings > About phone > Software information

@Matthew-Long

As per your screenshot, you have the following on your Galaxy S21 Ultra, international model...

OXM = multi regional code that is to be expected

BTU = U.K. non carrier branded firmware CSC code

EUX = European area code

XEH = Hungary country code non carrier branded

Put simply, your phone does not know which firmware your phone should receive.

Try the following...

1. Remove your SIM card

2. Turn phone off

3. Turn phone on without SIM card/s

4. Turn phone off

5. Re-insert SIM card

6. Turn phone on and check for updates.

Hopefully, that will solve your issue. If not, contact either the retailer or Samsung service.

OK, thank you. Will give that ago! Might be a silly question but can I simply switch the sim cards off in the sim card manager? Along I have 2 sims. Sim one is a phisical card with Sky Mobile. Second sim is an Esim on EE. Would this cause a problem? I had the same set up on my S20 with no problems though.

Also, with your instructions, how would I get on with my esim? Would I need to remove the esim plan in my settings before hand, as well as my phisical sim card?

Your phone is an import and was originally intended for use in Hungary.

My advice comes from being a UK Samsung iPhone user.

Current Devices:
  • iPhone 14 Pro 256GB Deep Purple
  • Samsung Galaxy Buds+ > Model: SM-R175.

Thank you. I have removed my esim, and removed my phisical sim. Switched it on and off again. Reinserted the phisical sim only. Still just the same. So will I never receive a software update? Will I have to return it to the retailer? Nightmare as have spent many hours getting the phone just right, downloading all my previous apps etc. It works perfectly, with no problems, but can't have a phone that won't update!

If it was me, I would return it.

You could try updating using Smart Switch for PC but you will never get over the air updates.
