Stopping pop up notifications whilst watching YouTube/Netflix etc

Please could somebody help me. 

When i am watching YouTube or Netflix and someone sends me a message, it shows on screen on top of what I'm watching. 

I have tried everything to get notifications to not show when I'm watching stuff but to no avail. 

Please can anyone put me out of my misery. I am sure i didn't have this issue with my previous Note8.

think in setting there an option to turn of notifications have.

go in notifications then pop up style give u 2 options detailed or brief

Thanks Kayleigh Brief is definitely better but they still pop up whilst watching stuff - i just
wandered if i could stop them completely

there do not disturb or advanced settings could try either of those hope it works for u 🙂

it does look like everytime i want to watch something i will have to switch all notifications off then back on again when I've finished. mad really

you can use the Do Not Disturb setting. Especially if you use Bixby Routines, you can turn on a routine that puts your phone in Do Not Disturb mode as soon as you open your video apps, then it will automatically come out of DND mode once you're done watching.
