You can back your phone up to any external storage device, i wouldn't worry about which type of storage device it is, let alone the make and model.
I would say it would be much easier to just buy a usb c memory stick instead, uses less power, smaller, and cheaper. (A microsd card would be most convenient, but im not sure if your phone has a micro sd card slot)
