Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Picture and tips Thread

Just thought I'd make a thread so we can post some of our photos from the S21 Ultra good and bad so people can see and comment on all those great and not so great.

Also any tips for taking better pictures we can share with each other. 

Here's a few random ones of mine after having the device for a couple of days so still playing around with settings.

Here's a few macro shots using the ultra wide lens super close up for macro shots. 

To take really good macro shots use the ultra wide 0.6x lense in the standard photo mode and go very close and you will end up with excellent quality macro shots.

Standard portrait mode which I accidentally left at 3:4 but have still turned out really nice, no other effects.

Here's a few night shots I quickly took while walking to a shop, I didn't do anything special other than take them using night mode. 

It was obviously much darker out than the pictures show so turned out really good even though there is still some graining/noise to the image but that's to be expected with night shots. 

If you click on the images it is clearer.

Some great photos there @FK1983 , good idea to have this thread so comparisons can be made and members can discuss the best camera settings. I do not have an S21 ultra to test myself but here is one article with tips.

Thanks for that. I think the camera system is great but suffers from a few issue:

1. Very slow buffering in demanding modes, esp 108mp. 

2. Portrait mode can be extremely laggy. It processes the images in real time and if you have a person in the frame it really starts to stutter. Strangely enough this tends to happen much more when using portrait mode while holding the phone horizontally. 

3. Zoom lenses are slow (meaning they have a small aperture and don't allow much light in). Zooming at night produces lousy results 

Pluses: *excellent* details, very very good dynamic range, accurate colors, excellent macro, Zoom x10 excellent with good lighting, x30 and above generally good for capturing remote objects (ie as a binocular).

Lastly, this is the moon at 30x with the ultra.

Where do the portrait colour point images save after having taken one?

It seems to be broken again as none of mine come out with a filter on unless I just apply the blur effect in portrait mode then edit the picture after and you can then add the other effects like colour point.

Not sure why they keep mucking it up but in the meantime just use the blur effect then go into gallery and edit the picture to find other effects.
