I'm wondering if your phone is syncing with another contact list i.e in Google contacts etc which is affecting your Samsung Contacts list.
To rule that out check what your phone is syncing with.

@Margè: Further to the advice offered by @BandOfBrothers you may wish to try moving your contacts to your phone's internal storage to see if this resolves the issue. To proceed, head to the Contacts app > Tap the 3 lines in the top left > Manage Contacts > Move Contacts > From (choose your current storage location > Move > Select the contacts you want to move, or hit 'All' in the top left > To (select 'Phone') > Move.
