Hi, hope someone can help

I recently purchased the S21 Ultra and it will not connect to 5G network.

I have received a new SIM from my provider.

I have reset the phone and also the Network settings.

I have installed Cellmapper to check network

Also installed Samsung band Selection

Nothing shows NR exists even though I am in a good 5G area.

Also saw something about unlocked Samsung phones don't have Network management for carriers like the carrier branded phones, if this is true then will have to look at returning this mobile.

Could someone advise?

Thanks in advance

I am on giffgaff UK and ordered a 5g sim as my they advertised my £10 goodybag was 5g ready and I get 5g now.

Hope you have changed settings in mobile to 5g/lte etc.

Also order phone directly from Samsung so unbranded.
Definitely your carrier issue.

Try putting the sim in another 5g ready phone maybe from a friend, colleague or family .

Are you sure the sim has been activated with your old number transfered to it?

Does 4g work?

Wow look below....

Virgin literally says that they cannot guarantee 5g if phone bought from another network or simfree.

Pretty lame by looks of it.

https://www.virginmedia.com/help/5g-issues-and-support

If you can dump virgin get A giffgaff card which also runs on O2 .

But worth checking with virgin whether you can download any software or setting that will make it work.

I've noticed on my S21 Ultra, if I turn off my WiFi connection with the phone, the phone switches to 5G.

Turn off your WiFi connection and see if that automatically connects you to 5G.
