New S21 U has 0% battery straight out of the box

Hello!

I just purchased a new S21 Ultra (unlocked) from Amaz*n and straight out of the box it has 0% battery charge. All of my previous new phones had an initial charge of 40-70% and could be set up & used right away, but those were all purchased at a local store (either Verizon or Best Buy).

Do unlocked phones typically have 0% battery when they're new, or is this a sign of a problem? I've had this phone on a Samsung Fast Charger for about 45 minutes and it's only at 21% charge.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Hi
You could run a diagnostic test
Click on the get help button
And run test Cable charging

Could have been sitting on a shelf for months. If so, battery would have depleted.

My advice comes from being a UK Samsung iPhone user.

Current Devices:
  • iPhone 14 Pro 256GB Deep Purple
  • Samsung Galaxy Buds+ > Model: SM-R175.

Personally, I would return it.

You've just spent a lot of money on a new device. Even if it were on 0% for a good reason, 45 minutes charging should get you over 40% charge even from flat.

Sounds dodgy but it could be Samsung forgot to turn it off when they ran their final tests before the phone is boxed up if the phone looks and works fine then keep it if not send it back

@Caleb461

I buy all my phone's direct from Samsung and everyone has had some form of charge in the battery.

What's your phone like now ?

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁴ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
