My rant to Samsung

Samsung if you are listening I have a few words of advice for you based on my recent experience.

Personally I feel you as a company are going down the wrong path by blindly following apple. I have been a long time Samsung user and have always chosen the brand as it offered a premium experience, much like Apple, with the key difference being you offered me choice as a consumer.

I currently own a note 9 and that phone was a 0 compromise phone which offered me everything I could want in a phone back then. A stylus, a headphone jack, an sd card slot, cameras that actually took great photos heck even a charger. Remember those?

But I recently purchased an S21U and besides quality issues with the camera, it felt pretty much like a downgrade to me. You've taken away all the choice you once offered me as a consumer, blindly following the likes of Apple by removing the headphone jack then the sd card slot and the charger from the box. In doing so you have made yourself undifferentiated from other companies. You want to charge me £1300 for an S21U but after making me compromise on the things mentioned above. To to add insult to injury you give me a phone with an exynos chip with cameras that underperforms vs what my peers get in the US. Why then should one buy a Samsung vs a one plus or a xiaomi? The mi11 offers an almost similar experience to your S21U for nearly half the price. So what am I, as a consumer, paying you more for? Your marketing campaigns? I don't see any differentiation anymore in your products vs a budget brand. In fact the experience I had was so bad I sent the S21U back.

In blindly copying apple I am sure you have made a ton of profit saving on parts and I'm sure you laugh at us suckers on your way to the bank. But what you forget is that apple have an ecosystem in place that keeps people tethered to the brand while you don't. So jokes on you. There are only so many compromises one can make before the value proposition starts to pinch. Keep this up and you are going to lose in the long run, you will be the next Nokia. You used to be the anti apple, an alternative for people who didn't want to buy apple now you're a joke. You poke fun at Apple then copy them blindly.. Haha

People like me who do not see a difference in your products vs products from a brand like Xiaomi have already started to make a switch in our households. I have stopped using Samsung pay, Samsung notes and other similar Samsung services in order to make it easier for me to make the switch in a few months time. You do realise that with android phones switching is much easier thanks to Google? This switch will also extend to my wife my parents and anyone else who asks me for a recommendation. You have made it incredibly hard to recommend a Samsung phone today. Previously I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a Samsung because I knew your phones were the best, 0 compromise and worth the extra money. But that isn't the case anymore.

My advice to you is to be different, be the innovative pioneering brand that we have come to know. Embrace your differentness rather than blindly copying apple. Offer me choice again. I wouldn't mind paying £1300 for your flagship if it gave me choice again. Bring back the headphone jack, sd card and ship your phones with a charger. If not, I am sure me and several other loyal customers have no real reason to pay you for what we can get elsewhere for half the price. I am sure I cant be the only one feeling this way and many here echo this sentiment.

True. But now xiaomi offer the same display tech and arguably a more polished UI. Last year their cameras on the mi10pro were the best according to Dxomark. Samsung can no longer justify the prices they charge.

Wonder what the return rate is though?

Good point. I would be interested to know. I heard this year Apple broke records too with their iPhone 12. They took the top spot from Samsung. Also I noticed many sealed S21Us on ebay for £300-400 less wonder why that is.

fair point but you can't drop a xiaomi in the bath...... and samsung prices to me are fine long as you don't want a fold or ultra. xiaomi is cheaper but to me it reflects in the price. I had a oneplus 8 pro, it was a nice phone, but that haptics were awful, the screen had a horrible black bar at the top, black crush was bad and no always on display (back then) I am a strong believer of you get what you pay for and samsung you just do, like I said they just have to sort their battery life out that's the only thing iphone has a hold over

there are 2 phones in this world, iphone and samsung, you take the iPhone if you want battery life but you have to except their horrible bugs and lack of innovation, or you take the samsung which has everything, with no bugs plenty of toys and a very premium feel, you will just have to plug it in at 5 o'clock for 20 mins that's the only draw back.

Actually you can. There is a video on YouTube where a guy does it. The mi11 is waterproof just that it doesn't have an official ip rating nor do xiaomi claim it to be waterproof. Also the mi11 Pro will have an official ip68 rating. Also good luck claiming warranty from Samsung if you do end up dropping your phone in the bath and it gets water damage. I agree Samsung does offer good quality products but it's definitely not like it used to be 2 years ago. Today they charge you an arm and a leg and make you compromise. If you have to compromise then might as well buy something cheap. The S21U is a rip off at these prices.

Iphone has bugs? I hardly use my iPhone but the software experience is much less buggy and well put together from what I see. Yes it doesn't have as many features but everything works like it should. Samsung tends to have more bugs and glitches in my opinion.

yes it really does, I used to be a longer term iphone user I loved the 11 Pro for the battery life but here's my list. ringer volume would move on its own accord, apple watch would miss notifications intermittently, sometimes when you get a text the iPhone would swallow it and you wouldn't know its there, call screen would sometimes be swipe to answer or press the green button this is with the iPhone locked. often if you took an airpod Pro out and put back in it would play in one ear, this happened on an iPhone 11 & Pro on ios 13 & 14, when 14 came out I had enough, tried a oneplue 8 Pro then came to my s20 and will never look back, yes iPhone is a bit simpler and polished but my Samsung hasn't missed a notification or let me down ever and I have never had to restart due to a bug, for the record I do prefer iPhone in general but the bugs and lack of aod & reverse charging let it down so that's why I will be staying here and giving samsung my money for the foreseeable future. Samsung to me is a better version of apple its the apple of android.

fair enough that about mi11 I did not know. I agree the s21u is over priced and their has been issues, but as for the standard s series you do get alot for your money, I just find it has everything you need and it works well and I just love one ui but I admit admit subjective.

Yeah. Hopefully they have a s21 fan edition this year. Last year's S20 fe can be had on ebay new for £400 at that price it's excellent value! Except for the plastic body everything else is proper flagship.
