Can anyone tell me why there are 2 messaging apps on the s21 makes no sense to have 2

I got same. One is by Samsung, other is by Google. Seems neither can be uninstalled and are pre installed by default.
The one Im using is the Samsung one and moved the Google one into a folder

one is samsung messages and the other is Google messages, I believe it's just a partnership thing but having both is to give the consumer the option of either.

I use Google messages for the rcs features

how do you disable one of them , by that I mean I want to use the normal message one and not be asked everytime to pick one as default, its doing my head in 😡😡😡 starting to pine for my s9+ it was so much easier to use😁😁

It seems that the Samsung messaging app now has RCS since the Feb update

press and hold the icon of the one you don't want, then tap the information icon top right.. and then just tap disable.. your welcome

That's exactly what I was going to say.
I use the Samsung Message App.
So I don't need/want Google message.
But, before I disabled it, I turned OFF the auto update.
Then I took the extra (probably unnecessary) steps of uninstalling any/all update/s which meant it reverted back to the most basic version of the app.
It also meant less of my phone storage was being used too.
Finally after all that I killed it by Disabling it!!
Yeah, I know someone will probably say I shouldn't have done that-but I've done this with other Apps on my previous Galaxy phones.
