I've used the Samsung gallery on different phones & tablets for many years and it has served my needs well.
The S21 Gallery is effing awful. I want to rename my photos as I take them. I want the option to have keep the original when I edit. Why take away these options? I live in hope that Samsung see sense and fix these things soon. Meanwhile I'm searching for alternatives from the PlayStore and considering installing a safe APK file of an older version of the Gallery if I can find one.

when you edit photo press the 3 dots and press save copy acts like before 2 copies edited and original not sure about renaming though

Thanks. Hope I remember to save copy. Just discovered the revert button so feeling a bit happier today.
