This could be something to do with the server your email uses @Melj
I'd suggest to check your email settings on your phone along with its sync settings as it sounds that when your phone email syncs its affecting your emails ,and also check your main email via logging into it via a browser url.
Look to see if your email uses an imap style set up as this acts differently to a pop3 style set up.
