I've got a Samsung plug and lead but it most of the time says slow charging. Does anyone know why? Thank you

So a charger from samsung does not mean its the fastest as samsung manufactures a wide variety of chargers. Your charger might be too slow for your phone so you better check that out.

Sometimes the lead gets weak, I went and got new leads off amazon and works perfectly

The wording has changed when looking at the status of charging @ColonelJay which can be confusing. 

If you go into Battery section it should show as fast charging as long as this is toggled On and a compatible fast charging brick and charging cord are being used.
