Hello

I don't know if it's just my phone but I have recently upgraded to a 5G plan with my network and I am getting slower speeds than my 4G plan on my older S8 and also slower than my broadband.
5G is available where I live and my neighbour recently bought an iPhone 12 Pro and he is getting over 600 mbps whereas I'm only getting 150 mbps. We did speed test side by side.
Is this phone restricted to max mbps?

Hi @Prolly89

Two different phone models.

Different 5G chips probably.

Different software and hardware.

Probably different tariffs. Some have data speed caps on them so please check.

Are you both on the same network and exact same contract tariff.

Your Samsung phone isn't restricted as far as I'm aware.

5G is still relatively a new service so experiences can fluctuate.

5G also only provides faster streaming and download speeds for large files but does not vastly improve actual Internet surfing speeds.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

I'm in the UK and I'm not suppose to be in the 5G coverage range for my network (Three) however I still can get a 5G signal from the top floor in my house. I've hit speeds of 300mbps on 5G so its certainly capable of more. The issue may be with your network provider.

Yes same everything except phone.

Only thing is he has e-sim whereas I have a sim card installed. I don't know if that would make a difference.
