When using 5GHz wifi hotspot, the majority of devices in the UK and EU are unable to connect to my hotspot, even if they support 5GHz, due to the hotspot using an illegal channel of 149.

You need to elaborate, channel 149 has been allowed since 2020.
What do you mean by the majority of devices in the UK and EU are unable to connect to your Hotspot? They can also use band 149 albeit a low powered version at 25mW.

You are correct, in the UK most devices, Firestick for example, IF THEY ARE THE UK VERSION!! Will not connect to a non UK version of of the Samsung Galaxy S20/5g...or for that matter possibly any non UK Samsung on the 5g hotspot because non UK phones transmit at 149 channel and above and UK devices connect at the lower channels and will not "See" your 5ghz hotspot...its a pain in the a** and cannot be rectified.
