Galaxy S20 SeriesWTF were Samsung thinking. Every phone I've had of theirs, has had the volume switch on the left.
Putting it on the right is just straight up dumb, incredibly annoying and dumb.
Did I mention it's dumb?
It's also very hard to take screenshots now. Something I do a lot of.
Swiping to take a ss often messes up whatever you were on as the screen is obviously touch.
It's also much harder to do accurately and will be almost impossible with a heavy duty case on it.
The time you have to press the volume down and power button to take a screenshot has changed without warning. It was very very frustrating. I had to learn through error through attempted use.
You now need two hands to do it and have to hold the phone sideways to do it.
It's the worst decision made in terms of outer layout of the phone.
Also having the camera in the middle is really annoying. That's where I and likely others, swipe down to get the menu thing up. Most things I don't even know their specialised names of, as they're not labelled nor are we taught what they're called. Phones are getting too over ridden with features now. Buttons and options galore.
Micro management.
Just to get a new phone working as you want it to, takes a few months now. It's insane.

Galaxy S20 SeriesI prefer the volume rocker on the right, though you are correct it does make screenshots more difficult - they can still be achived with one hand though, you just have to click them both in at the same time with your thumb. The edge swipe also works fine (for me at least) even with a heavy duty case on. That being said, I do agree it's a little awkward... It's a shame that there isn't an option in Advanced Features>Side Key to have press and hold or double tap take a screenshot as that would help mitigate this issue.
Personally I much prefer the central front facing camera. I usually swipe one side of the menu thing (AKA notification bar) and I think a lot of other people do too. Which side I use depends on which hand I'm holding the phone in so the central position makes swiping down of the notification bar more ambidextrous. That being said, I usually only access the notification bar from the home screen, on which you can configure so that you just swipe down from the middle rather than having to reach the top of the phone (I use Nova launcher but you can do this in Samsung's default launcher too).
"Phones are getting too over ridden with features now. Buttons and options galore. ". They've actually reduced the number of buttons by getting rid of the Bixby button. Options are always good to have as if you don't like something you can usually change it. Options are optional which is why they aren't called mandatories, no one is forcing you to micro manage (thankfully). Different people have different ideas about how they want their phones to work, for many the defaults are probably all fine, but I think it's always good to have options which is why I've always used Android over iPhones.

Galaxy S20 SeriesWhere is this option to swipe from middle of screen without nova?
By buttons, I meant virtual buttons on screen.
Thanks.
Surprised you prefer it on the right. Not possible to use thumb to press both buttons together.
Swiping for ss as explained requires you to physically make contact with the the hand with the screen. In certain apps this causes the screen to swipe rather than a ss be taken.

Galaxy S20 Series"Where is this option to swipe from middle of screen without nova?"
Go into "Home Screen Settings" (which you can get to by holding down on the home screen background then hitting "Home Screen Settings" or opening the app drawer, hitting the ... icon at the top right and going to "Home Screen Settings" then turn on "Swipe down for Notification Panel".

Galaxy S20 SeriesTo have all the buttons in close proximity is not user-friendly. Do they not do usability studies??? One literally has to first feel the three buttons (and thus consciously think) before you press.

Galaxy S20 SeriesWith you on that my man. Spent 20 minutes trying to take screenshot. google assist also struggles with it. Was ready to launch this brand new phone across the garden. Samsung, this is absolute *****e. 2 thumbs down for the ***** eejit who approved this disaster. Even on cheap tablets you can generally assign the home key to take screenshots when held down...

Galaxy S20 SeriesWhen you are talking on the phone, it is easier to adjust the volume if the keys are on the left side, when on the right side you can not, you can not also take snapshots. I agree it is very very stupid idea to put volume keys on to right side, now when i want to adjust volume when talking i have to get phone away from my ear to lower the volume and put it back on, while doing so you will miss at least 4-5 words from the conversation, it is impossible to adjust the volume while talking, the phones are already big , we are holding it from middle of the phone, your fingers will be seeking for the volume buttons while talking and you will drop the phone.
