UI3.0 on S20 with dual SIM

So I got the UI 3.0 update a week or so ago and looks great on my S20 Ultra.

However, I am now stuck with having to specify which SIM to use for calls (calls can actually ask each time - this alone messes up the car connection with it not being able to connect to make a call unless i ILLEGALLY touch my phone) and SMS with no obvious way to change.

So in effect I now have a phone with 2 SIMS but without the usability I signed up for.

<sarcasm>Well played Samsung, well played </sarcasm>

Anyone figured out how to work this one out? or downgrade UI 3.0?

@Anton28 - sell your device, you should get $1000+ and get yourself a new Dual SIM Huawei or Google Pixle or hate to say it....iphone!

I'm very frustrated with this too. It was so simple before, you simply chose sim 1 or 2!!!

I noticed that you can call with sim 1, hangup, go to recent and there if you hold the call button it gives you an option to choose a sim. This could also happen on the contacts area, would be worse but not as bad as no option.

I simply changed to google phone app, that is also a litlle stupid, you have to call and before the call connects you have a "CHANGE SIM" button available.

Is there a Samsung Moderator on this thread? Appreciate if we can get an update directly from Samsung if they have any plans to fix this issue and when ?

@snee - i think one key problem in getting Samsung's attention to fix this issue is we have some ppl here suggesting "workaround" steps to manually toggle between SIM1 and SIM2 which is a PAINFUL user experience results PRIVACY, SECURITY, COST issues and likely just encourages Samsung to ignore our request to fix.....

We really need everyone commenting here to just focus on requesting Samsung to fix this issue and bring back both Dual SIM1 + SIM2 buttons for calls and messages

Samsung - you have absolutely destroyed the the dual sim experience with the one UI 3 update. We can no longer select which sim to call or text from like previously where there were always a button for each sim. I purchased my handset so I could use my work and personal sim (on different networks for extra coverage) and now you've completely ruined it). Please either:

1. Fix this so the dual sim feature works as before the update

2. Make it easy for us to roll back to android 10

3. Fire yourselves for doing a pathetic job

@dotdotdot - option #3 is hilarious!!! Haha

With respect to option #2, shockingly someone DELETED one of my previous replies on this thread showing step by step instructions on how to revert back to Android 10, UI 2.5.....

i guess the big question is, WHY would a Samsung Moderator sabotage this thread and DELETE my post ????!!

well, here it is again!!! Please read below

FYI, I'm from Toronto, Canada and my Samsung Dual Sim Note 10+ device MODEL NUMBER: SM-N975F/DS is an international import (I believe from Samsung Vietnam). I use SIM1 (Network Provider: BELL Canada) for work purposes and SIM2 (Network Provider: Rogers) for personal use. After running out of patience waiting many months for Samsung to fix this issue in UI 3.0, well, on March 4th 2021, I decided to revert back to Android 10, UI 2.5. Since then, my device is back to normal and working perfectly fine. Just like everyone here and many other similar threads for same issue, now I'm just monitoring every Samsung Community daily and waiting for someone to eventually post good news that Samsung has fixed this issue in Android 11, UI 3.x. Meanwhile, the best part is I have my SIM1 + SIM2 buttons for calls and messages! Since I'm in Canada, Samsung Members app will only connect to a local country, so when I posted a this issue in Samsung Community in Canada, fortunately and so lucky that I got help from an Expert Level 5 (CHMultimedia) who did me the huge favor uploading Authentic Samsung Software files and instructions with screenshots to his OneDrive. Please see below.

WARNING / CAUTION - PLEASE READ FIRST:

#1. Below recommended solution will only work for: SAMSUNG DUAL SIM NOTE10+ MODEL NUMBER: SM-N975F/DS

IF YOU HAVE  A DIFFERENT MODEL NUMBER THEN STOP AND GET THE AUTHENTIC SAMSUNG SOFTWARE FILES THAT ARE SPECIFICALLY FOR YOUR DEVICE MODEL (sorry, I have no idea where someone would get Samsung Software files for a Dual SIM Note 10, S10, S10+, S20, Note20, Note20+, etc)

#2. BACKUP ALL YOUR DATA - ie. contacts, messages, calls, apps, and all types of media - images, videos, docs, etc....as this process will wipe out the data on your device!

For the SOLUTION to revert your Samsung Dual SIM Note10+ Model Number: SM-N975F/DS  back to Android 10, UI 2.5, go to my post in SAMSUNG CANADA COMMUNITY (link below):

GOOD LUCK !!!

I read al comments and I undurstand that you talk about 2 SIM from the same country.

Most of people have 2 SIM in 2 differnt country and with the old system (choose your SIM for each call) a mistake can cost a lot of money (a call/sms/data between 2 country prefix it's not roaming and it have a cost).
With this solution you can always change SIM for each call, not easy as before, but you can.
The best solution should be to choose witch UI works best for you, but all these company think (or know?) that is too complcate for unskilled people and we are stuck with one solution every time.

@Gaingi - I agree with you that many users are not skilled to manually switch each time and will make mistakes.....resulting a PAINFUL user experience results PRIVACY, SECURITY, and COST issues. For both Dual SIM scenarios 1) same country or 2) different countries - you can use my recommended solution to revert back to Android 10, UI 2.5 to help get back both SIM1 + SIM2 buttons for calls and messages!!

NO. Is the worst, you don't know how many times you make mistakes and you are not able to use hands free systems (you have to click the SIM you want).

The current UI is feil free (as shoud be) it's just annoyng for people like you that change SIM for same person.
In my mind you should configure your dual SIM use. "Do you want choose SIM for each call or set a default for each contact?".
Too complicated?
