Samsung Pay not working

I have just upgraded from S10+ to S20+ and everything is great except for failing NFC payments at various shops. I have never had any issues with S10+ but now the payment terminals do not detect NFC on my S20+ around half of time. I have to restart the handset in order for NFC to be detected again. Anyone know what the issue is?

Hey @lhrsinsyd ,

do you have your phone in a case or cover? have you checked if there are any apps open on the background that might be affecting this?

I'm having the same issue on my S20 plus on Google Pay. It works sometimes and then other times it vibrates and tells me it's not worked driving me mad as well. My phone does have a case on but if my card in a wallet can be found without removing it surly my phone should!!

Check your battery percentage, my nfc stops working when under 70% charge remaining.

I'll check that, thanks but if it is that, it's ridiculous!!
Cheers.

What? It stops if under 70%? Well I'm going to have problems.. At work we have to pay without cash. And when I go back my shift ends at 10pm so no time to go home to then get shopping.

My s9+ at end of shift was 20-30% and worked fine with google pay... If this one work under 70% then I might have to go back to my s9+ as we can't carry any money or cards.. Only phone. So it's only way for me to get any shopping done (I work in supermarket)

Please don't take the 70% issue as standard, it has been an issue on a variety of different handsets. My issue is on an S9 reading nfc tags but, making payments for me has always worked.
Reading nfc tags might be different to a card reader accessing payment cards through nfc.
I'm still hoping someone can clarify the issue (separate post).

Might test it. I have an app as wanted to see what was on my passport nfc and its still on my s9 and synced to the s20 on smart switch. My battery is 21% on here and 58% on the s9 so be interesting to test if it reads nfc.

As for card readers they are powered. So it could be reading tag on phone uses more battery compared to a card payment reader that does the power for you?
