I managed to resolve this issue by follwoing instructions from another thread in a forum, could be this one.
This problem is related to MS accounts that have 2FA enabled.
When prompted to enter your MS account details to transfer to Onedrive, do not enter your password.
Instead, select the option to use the MS authenticator to validate access to your Onedrive account.
The link and transfer from Samsung Cloud to MS Onedrive will work as expected.
