I've been trying to connect an external mic to my S20 Ultra for sometime now and I always face a problem of constant static noise while recording.

I've tried the following:

- 2 different Usb-c to Aux dongles with DAC and an external 3.5 mm microphone designed for smartphones.

- Usb-c microphone for smartphones

In the three trials I get the same very loud static while recording.

Any help?

I don't get the static when I use the usb-c headset that came with the phone though, so I don't think it's a port issue.

either the cable, or either where you put the usb into the phone it can be dirty or dust, also If you try to plug it in many times without attention I mean harsh it can start moving inside the phones that's why that's my opinion wish you luck and to sort it out 😉

I have the s20 ultra and having nothing but problems with trying to use an external mic. I get similar white noise, but more like static, so when speaking it garbles the sound. I have tried 2 different usb c adapters to head phone jack, Including the Samsung brand. it happens very randomly, I can record a video and no problem it works fine. Then record another right after and thinking it's all good to only find out later is messed up the audio. So frustrating, I have tried 2 different mics, the rode micro and the rode wireless go and same issues with both. When I try these set ups on my S9 phone, no issue at all. I see this topic come up a lot and for some people ot works and others it does not. So I don't know, I have spoke with Samsung tech support and they could not help, they were supposed to get back to me with an answer but that was over a month ago. Samsung has really screwed this up in these new phones with not having a headphone jack. They could have at least tested these with a usb c adapter to for external mics before mass producing them. With most people using their phones as a video camera, the internal mics are terrible for recording a youtube video. This has really made me think about not getting a Samsung phone again.

Very frustrating, specially when there are people with the same phone who are using an external mic without any issues.

I can't seem to understand where is the issue coming from.

I have an S22 Ultra and finding the same thing using Samsung's 3.5mm to USB-C adaptor. Using the camera set to ext mic the L and R audio bars are at 50% even before I connect a mic!
