Does any s20 ultra owner experience problems with the display when sitting in the sun the screen dims to a level that you can barely see? Even though the screens brightness is on max when checking.

I have been trying to figure out screen dimming problems for awhile on first an s10 plus and now an s20 ultra. Today I was in Best Buy noticing a similar problem occurring on a note 20 ultra. I sat there for awhile trying to figure it out with a Best Buy employee and we never did figure it out as we changed a number of settings. I did seem to notice that it happened mostly with Google Maps and Samsung Internet. If I left the messages app open, it never started dimming. It's been a really frustrating issue for me because I would often like to just leave it on Max brightness even if it lowers battery life. I've written in other posts about the issue in direct sunlight with the s10 plus and it suddenly dimming so I could hardly read the screen.

I found this in another forum and it worked for my phone I CAN FINALLY SEE!!!. Samsung definitely needs to fix this issue though Ive been trying to fix it for months.
"In the "Settings" app, navigate to "Device Care", then click on the three dots in the top right corner of the screen. From the pop-up menu, select "Advanced". You should see the toggle "Optimise Settings". Disable that"

No dice for me with your approach unfortunately, it was disabled already.
FWIW I have used adb to disable almost all unnecessary Samsung junk and have this issue so if it's software, it's in their core modules.

I have the same problem, I bought a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and after a few minutes at direct sun the screen becomes unusable. Can't see anything in order to take a photo. My son has a 150 euro priced mobile phone (amoled) of a competitive Chinese company and the screen at direct sun is so bright (1200nits). That's a shame for a premium phone that advertises 1400 nits (peak).
I understand its a software configuration maybe to handle battery drain because of overheating etc but Samsung should give us the option to disable it and to be able to use 100% of the brightness !
I have made ALL the possible configurations to help with the problem and nothing worked. Does the snapdragon version have the same issue ?
I bought this phone because of the camera quality but if I cannot see anything to take the photo outside whats the point.

I asked the service to replace it with a snapdragon model and they informed me that I cannot get one because they only import exynos model. Its really ridiculous not be able to use 100% of the brightness outside. This was not clear before we buy it. They advertise 1400 nits (peak) for inside or outside ?
