S20 Ultra Clear View Cover no notifications

So today I got the Clear View Cover for my S20 Ultra. I was pretty happy with it until I noticed it doesn't show notifications for Whatsapp and Gmail (haven't tested any other apps).

I found no way to turn them on anywhere. I have enabled notifications for the lock screen and I have turned on Always on Display. When a notification comes in all it does is make a noise, the AOD only shows the clock and that's it.

This is making the cover pretty useless because you have to lift it up to even see if you got any messages!

Please Samsung, do something about this, this very same issue also existed for the S10!!!! ALL APPS need to be able to show notifications through the clear view window!

My wife just got her clear view cover and has reported the same issue.

A bit of searching and I came to this page and also an app called aodNotify which has mixed reviews. It's created by someone from the excellent XDA site and is certainly something I'll try to see how it goes.

It is available in the Google Play Store.

Thanks.

Just got the case. Cannot believe this is how it works. It seems that is has been like this with the not 10 case aswell. Don't  think there will be any changes in the behaviour  of the case.

it's  ridiculous.

I just got an S20 and a Clear view cover and have noticed the same thing. Notifications don't show and also any notification sounds are delayed when the cover is closed. I am more than disappointed with this.

How hard could it be for Samsung to put and option in to allow or disallow notifications with the cover closed.

I am going to add the same frustration here as well. Its as if someone in samsung is trying extremely hard to ***** the customers off. How difficult is it to fix this obvious design flaw.

Extremely hard to not acknowledge the issue. I tried the Facebook account, error reports in Samsung Members, community forums, even sent two emails to the address specified in the info of the Always On Display application in the Galaxy Store. Just being ignored.

Yep - I've got the clear view cover for the s20+ and no matter what setting I try, 5 seconds after the case is closed - the time, date, battery percentage and notification always disappear.

It's real shame that this is a samsung community page but samsung does not  monitor it nor do they seem to care in the slightest.

Can anyone please tell me how to keep the always on display running when the clear view case is closed?

I have the same issue. At least with the S9+ you had a LED indicator, but since that's gone now I'd expect some replacement. Especially since it is a Samsung orriginal case..

Hello, got the clearview cover today for my s20 ultra, I'm also disppointed, the colorful notification window disappears after 5 seconds ! only able to get date/time with aod.

Very frustrated, does Samsung plan any fix to that stupid behavior ?
