S20+ Google Pay

I can't seem to get google pay to work on my new samsung s20+. I have registered the bank card on Google play and have authorisation from by bank (Halifax) The card is showing as active within google pay. NFC is on and google pay is default. Any advice would be much appreciated

In what way is it not working @Jfaldo  ?

 

When you go to pay for something at a till scanner etc what happens ?

 

Does Google Pay work with your banks details on another phone ?

 

It might be an idea to also speak with your Bank just to ensure they haven't barred anything at their end.

 

There shouldn't be anything in the phones settings as it's all set up automatically.

 

That said you could put the phone in Safe Mode which disables any downloaded apps and leaves the stock ones working and then see what happens.

When I attempt to use contactless pay at store I wake the phone and hold to the card reader nothing happens. I have used Google pay for online purchases but can't get the contact less to work. Card is definitely authorised by bank

Are you able to try another phone and use Google Pay to help rule out the phone at issue ?

I'm having this issue too. I've just upgraded from the Huawei P20 Pro to the Samsung S20 plus and I cannot get Google pay to work. I used it flawlessly before switching to this phone. I've added the card, set it as default, its registered, NFC is on, and no matter how long I hold the device at the payment machine in store, it just won't do a thing.

After I had triple checked my bank had defo authorised my bank card I used my card to pay for items in shop using chip & pin. I then also withdrew money from the cash machine. This must've activated something as free that its started working no probs

This happened to me and was driving me crazy. Did some digging and managed to sort it on mine, hopefully it works for you. If you search Optimise battery usage, change pull down menu to all apps, and switch Google pay off, this allows it to keep running without being put to sleep. 

Also search tap and pay, and make sure google pay is set to default for both payment and others. Not sure if this has an effect but better to try it.

Same.. my bank keeps saying it's setup correctly.  Samsung pay works fine.

 

Very frustrating as some cards are Not Samsung Pay enabled

I haven't used Google pay but I have used Samsung Pay and I have reason to believe that neither of the applications are supported by the Samsung Galaxy s20. Before upgrading I was able to use Samsung Pay on my Samsung Galaxy s7 edge so naturally I wanted to use Samsung pay on my s20. I couldn't figure it out so I searched on the web and Samsung Pay is only supported on devices up until the s10. This makes me think that it's just not quiet ready for the s20 yet. Hopefully they fix this problem soon though and we can continue to use Samsung and Google pay. Especially during these times when contactless pay is more important than ever.
