S20 FE - full storage

Hi. 
I wonder if anybody can help me please. 
My previous phone was an iPhone 7 128gb where I was currently using only around half of the memory. 
I decided to change to the Samsung s20 fe 128gb phone and uploaded all my images and videos via smart switch - this has more or less filled the storage on the Samsung. 
can anybody tell me why my images and videos would be more or less double the storage on a Samsung especially as I have lots of apps on my iPhone which like I say is only using half the memory. Very frustrated as now means I can’t take any more photos or download any apps. Can anybody help ? Many thanks

is it possible the photos on your iPhone where on the cloud therefore not actually taking up storage on your phone?

Thank you so much. It looks as if this could be the problem. I’m not great with technology as I’m sure you can tell haha. I thought iCloud just backed up what was on your internal memory. 
can you recommend anything that would allow me more space without getting rid of my images and videos if poss.

you can put a micro SD card in your phone it sits in with your SIM or you can use Google's version of the cloud. Or possibly the one drive

Hi,
Like iPhone they have icloud. Samsung have Samsung cloud, its the same as icloud. If you go to ur gallery and click on the 3 dots on the right hand side and scroll down to setting and u will see sync with Samsung cloud
