Hi all

This is my first post, I'm looking for advice on my s20 that I purchased a few days ago.

I set it up and realised I was getting the same battery life as my S9 (around 4 hours screen time). I went to turn off some of the high spec features (screen display, refresh rate etc) and saw they weren't even on. Checking the accubattery app, I was horrified to discover the battery health was already at 79%.

Having read a few articles online I found out that if you charge the phone to 100%, it may not be 100% in reality so the best way to test the battery was to continue charging the phone until the accubattery showed the phone was no longer charging.

I did this yesterday, my phone stopped charging at 99% and received 3138MaH. This is an improvement on the previous 2333MaH it received once it had been charged to 100% (78% in reality) however it is nowhere near the advertised 4000Mah. I think this is a faulty phone but just to confirm, what is everyone's battery capacity?

Thanks in advance. S20, battery life

accubattery isn't always accurate.

check this app and keep tapping battery status under the monitor tab and a pop up appears. not sure how accurate it is though.

Thanks Adam. It seems to be on line with the amount of screen on time I'm getting though? I'm not even a heavy user but my phone can't even get up to five hours of screen on time! So frustrating

My S20 5G has a shocking battery life as well. I've had it about 6 months. I get about 6hr SOT at best. The battery charge lasts about 11hrs in total.

It seems to be a common thing with these phones.

I'd love to get six hours! I've been reading about people getting 7-8 hours without making any power saving modifications - I don't get it! I think I'll test it out over the next few days and return it if the battery life continues to be bad. Are you charging until Samsung tells you that 100% charge has been reached?

I've tried everything to sort issues out. I've factory reset the phone, in December and that didn't help.

6hrs is a good day for me, generally if I'm using the phone it's more like 4/5 hrs.

I've charged until 100%, then to 0, then turned phone off and charged to 100 again. Nothing seems to work.

I do find that once it gets to 100%, if I take it off charge it's straight down to 99% though.
(It's depleted 2% in time I've written this)

It's such a shame, it's got a bigger battery than my s9 but I'm getting the same screen on time and I've had that for over two years!

Yes mine is the same, as soon I take it off charge the % starts dropping. I wonder if we have faulty batteries because other people are getting so much more screen on time. I dread to think how long the battery would last if I actually turned on all the fancy features!

I've got power saving mode on, and I've set a Bixby Routine to turn brightness down to 15%, blue light filter on, screen timeout to 1min etc, and this still depletes.
I've another routine for nighttime, where from 1am-8am, it turns all apps, data, brightness off. It still drains about 5% even though nothing running!!

Oh wow you've done a lot to preserve your battery life then! Surely you should be getting way more life out of it?! I'm going to have to try all that but it seems to defeat the purpose of having a high spec phone 😞
