Phone call gets put on hold when message/sms/email is received

Yesterday I was on a call using my bluetooth headset.
Everytime I received a whatsapp message, sms or email message the phone call was put on hold and I could not find how to get it off hold.

I had to dial into the call again (it was a standard conference call) everytime the phone call went on hold

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

If I'm on a call using my Samsung Buds Live I do get notified of an incoming call or text but it does not affect the call in progress.

Maybe it's the Bluetooth Headset your using ? Can you test them on another phone as a process of elimination  ?

I have exactly the same problem. It's not related to the headset - I also have the problem when I call without a headset.

Did you ever find a solution? It's driving me crazy.
