It seems we still have no option or work round as to putting individual tones on texts like we still can do on ringtone.
Does anyone understand why???.
Is there a work round.

Everything worked up to notifications. There is no general notifications within it. There's no customization available. Is this different for the 20+ 5g?

NO this is not it .....the ability to go to contacts hit edit and scroll down to assign a ring tone..there user to be a place for message tone that is gone..NO ONE wants to save all of their message threads just to have a custom contact notification for text messages.

You totally can if you have the s20 ultra then just go to the messaging app the stock one go to the message box for the contact you want to change the sound of click the three dots in the right hand corner go down to notification sound and you should be able to change it there and It will be for only that contact

This only works if you save your message thread once you delete the message the personalized contact message tone is gone. It used to be right under edit in the contacts right after ring tone

So many stories
Check my previous message with the yt link.
You can do for 1 contact as you can do for all in once with the same song. 🤷♂️
Seems like we're speaking 10 different languages.. whatever other phone did, s20+ and ultra can also. Is just in a different place located.

Afraid not, as stated if you delete the thread it reverts back to default tone. Samsung are full of hot air and bluster and say this will be sorted out in the next update. OVER 2 YEARS LATER we are still waiting for this to be implemented. If you can have separate ring tones you can also have separate notification tones. Its not rocket science. Its just SAMSUNG don't care what their customers want or ask for to be reinstated!
Rant ongoing!
