Duplicate Notification Sounds

I have recently purchased an S20+ and each time I receive a notification the sound plays twice. I have a different notification tone for each app (I only have notifications set up for Textra, WhatsApp, Messenger and Snapchat) which is played and then a second later it then plays the default sound which is a beep! It only happens when the phone is locked and I've and the edge lighting activated

It is driving me crazy, does anyone have any ideas? It was also happening with my S9+ but in the last week I upgraded. The problem must be in my settings somewhere 🤔

I'm grateful for any advice given.

@Jen83: Can you try going to Settings > Accessibility > Advanced Settings > Notification Reminders, and toggle this option off if applicable to see if this resolves your issue.

Hi, thanks for your comment. I have just gone into that setting and it was already toggled off. The duplicate notification sound literally plays the second after the first sound. Thank you.

Hi, I am having tha same problem with my S20 Ultra using WhatsApp.  This phone has many problems.  Pictures taken from nearby are also blurred.  Really disappointed!!!

Hi, I am having the same problem due to the edge lighting notifications. At the moment the only fix I could find is completely removing the edge lighting. I know, this sucks.

I have the exact same problem with my new Samsung Note20: it plays 2 notification sounds, one on top of each other: one is from the respective app and the other is the one I have assigned in the Settings --> Notifications. When I try to mute the Samsung Notifications in Settings, though, it mutes both notifications, so I end up with no notifications at all from any app. And overwriting this via the respective app doesn't seem to work either. I'm totally going crazy; in my old Samsung S9+ I never had this problem, it was so much simpler: in Settings, Notifications were silent, and yet, I could still receive selected notifications from some apps. 😫

I had the same problem on an A32.  With Android 11, this is how I solved it:
On system Settings, Sounds, I chose the tone "Silent" for all notifications.  Then on Apps, I enabled specific sounds for each one on the apps' notifications configurations.  The Silent tone is still played, but is, well, silent.  I guess that's the best Samsung could do, rather than fixing their imposed OS over Android.

This worked on my Z Fold 4.  It just started, hadn't toggled it on, but it was on.  Every new update on 13 seems to default and change some settings..

Phew.  Thx!
