DO NOT Update to OneUI 3.0 - Battery Drain

Hello everyone,

This is just a friendly heads up - coming from Galaxy S20 FE 5G here, recently updated to OneUI 3.0 (Android 11) which is nice and all but it has one major flaw at this time - the battery drain is obscene. Losing 6% over night on airplane mode.

Today, charged my phone from 20% to 85% and with nothing but wi-fi and auto sync enabled, in a couple of hours in which I didn't touch my phone, and barely had 1 minute of screen on time, and only a single messenger message received (no calls or any other interaction), I lost 5% battery in a couple hours.

Just as a comparison, previously (on OneUI 2.5 - Android 10) I would lose on average 2% overnight on airplane mode, and nowhere near as much as 5% in such a short amount of time on idle.

Here's a screenshot from OneUI 3.0 battery usage (which is also bugged - https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-note20-note20-ultra-5g/battery-graph/td-p/2550592/page/2 & https://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-note-20-note-20-ultra/1017960-battery-usage-graph-d...) of what I'm describing above - the battery drain is not even reflected if I'm looking at the apps here!

So if you value your battery life, screen on time, and generally the mileage you can get daily out of your device, do not update to Android 11 just yet.

EDIT: usage time has improved in my experience since I posted this. The idle drain got back to normal pretty quick, and as of today it feels like really good usage time again, still a pinch below the previous version, but very decent. It feels as if the adaptive battery had to relearn everything from scratch, not sure if that's actually the case, just what it feels like.

Hope you all have a good experience.

To fix your Battery stats not showing since 2021, see...

One UI 3.0 can’t show battery stats for 2021 on your Galaxy phone? Here’s a fix

I have poor battery life since I turned it on for first time, in my case after Android 11 update battery is slightly better but overall same ..... the screen on time feels like 2000 milliampere hours not 4500 ! So poor optimisation. Otherwise nice phone haha

I also feel like the optimization is poor on this device... but honestly, in OneUI 2.5 tweaking a lot of settings + using adaptive battery + using Bixby Routines for stuff like turning on certain features only when you need them, really made for good usage times, it felt like a big battery, and overall a nicely rounded package as far as value. I'd lose 2% battery per night on average, and not have to charge the phone for 2 - 3 days even with medium use, and I don't even charge to 100% most the times (I think I must have gotten something like 8+ hrs of SOT the most on a full charge). Now it just feels like the battery is leaking for no good reason, and the graph doesn't even reflect the usage correctly, something is obviously very wrong here.

Also, the fix above is legit, I've also done exactly that to get my graph back, but yeah if you don't usually pay attention to your battery maybe you won't be able to tell, but even without the graph I could tell it's draining more than usual on OneUI 3.0. Anyone else a battery freak that's experiencing the same drainage with this update?
