Setting up your new Galaxy S20

Getting started with your new phone is usually an exciting moment: you're finally able to have a device that performs better, faster, has more capabilities and new features.

Sometimes though, especially when moving to Samsung from different manifacturers, it can also be challenging, having to learn how to interact with your device all over again. At Samsung we do our best to make our user experience as smooth as possible, but it's always nice to have some guidance through your first steps.

Let's see below what to do when you've just bought a new Samsung Galaxy S20, and you can't wait to play with it!

  • Turn on your device, by pressing the button on the right hand side
  • Start by connecting to a Wi-Fi network; if none are available, select "skip"
  • Transfer any data you want to keep from your old phone, using Samsung's Smart Switch app
  • Sign into your Google Account. If you don't have one, you can skip this step, but you will need to create one to access Google's services, like the Play Store
  • Set up the security on your phone; you can choose biometrics, a pattern, a PIN, or a password
  • Sign in with your Samsung account. If you don't have one, you'll have a chance to create it now
  • You're now ready to start using (and loving) your new Galaxy S20!

Let's see how it's done!
