Another victim of the screen burn shakedown!!
Nearly a month after sending them what I considered to be my pristine two-year old Samsung S9+ I receive an email advising that my phone has screen burn and with a single button to pay an additional £50. No contact details to discuss, no alternatives, just a button to pay money.
I replied and asked them what exactly was the issue as I have never noticed any problems and couldn't see anything in their picture, they pointed out there was a very faint(!!) lighter band across the top of the screen! This was only visible if you opened a white background app and then turned the device upside down and on its side and even then you'd only notice it if you were specifically looking for it.
I traded my phone in on the condition of a £200 rebate, I read their terms and conditions and had no forewarning that my device would not meet their criteria. Reading online it appears that this is a common theme. It therefore appears to me little more than a shakedown, avoid their trade in process! They know the age of the device in question and should factor that in before making seemingly intentionally misleading offers. When you have already got your new phone and it's been several weeks since you completed your trade-in it actually just feels like extortion because they know it's an awkward situation to be dragged back into and most people will just roll over because of it.
I have requested to return my Samsung S20 Ultra, I have had numerous top of the range Samsung's since the early days of Android, this will be my last. Very disappointed in this experience and very disappointed in Samsung! Samsung don't value their own devices or their customers seemingly.
