S10+ Camera, not really "professional" at all....

Got my S10+ preordered and got it on the 8th of March. Splendid phone, display, battery life... but when testing the camera..i can say that i am disapointed beyond any form of recovery... even with the 3 cameras on the back....it really cant match other phones...and that in a bad way... I have a Galaxy S8, which i was hoping to replace it with this S10+, but to be honest...the camera on the S8 takes better photos by far compared with the s10+...not talking about low lighting, or any fancy stuff..just talking about a standard photo of my 4 month old child...yes...lighting is definately better...but ..overall capturing "moving" subject and colour replication...is way way way way better on the S8...Even normal pictures taken with natural light are really like grainy...like ISO is used way too much and even with the F1.5 at 1/500 and iso 800  (pro mode) pictures are so grainy...and really dark and that is with natural light...not studio or anything...(btw..i am also a professional photographer and i know my "sh...t")

so i am now thinking of returning back the S10+ as the main reason i got the phone was to have a great camera and photo experience....

Really Really dissapointed because of that.. and maybe you think that it is something software related with the new Samsung One OS that came out...nope..upgraded the S8 to that also...and still way way way better pictures..althought the normal OS before the Samsung one that i had on the S8 was still better when it came to taking photos videos...

Any thoughts or anyone experienced this ?

Hi

this update brings no cam improvements but ‘night mode’ is now a separate option. A significant update to cam is slotted for May end release and it will bring

- improved night video and photos

- improved selfie on s10 plus using depth sensors for live focus

- improved stabilisation

- pro Mode improvements (possibly pro video mode back in action)

I see I have the update. I hope the video fuzzyness has improved!

Yeah, thanks for the update without Pro mode for video. Really hoped that it would be a part of the update but I guess I can forget that... Never Samsung again...

Today I received my S10 and I got to say that I agree with you. For almost 3 years I been use S7 edge and I love it. After all this time I thought that I can finally can replace my S7edge but I was so wrong. I brought S10 on 2 years contract in Comviq Sweden operator. Thank god I was able to cancel it and send back mine S10 and I will tell you why:
In less then 30 minutes I was able to found this:
S10 can't switch between cameras in video recording 1080P 60fps and 4K 60fps mode. You are stuck with only one main camera.
S10 don't have PRO mode for video recording.
S10 have lower low light and indoors pictures quality compare to my S7 edge and my wife S8.
S10 have Power-button way up on the side which make it very hard to use with one hand.
S10 USB C charging port is soldered directly to the motherboard so If you damage it basically you have to replace whole motherboard.
S10 feels a bit more hollow when you knock it with the finger on the back glass compare to my S7 edge.
S10 on Youtube App has only 1080p resolution supported while my S7 edge has 1440p
I found this very disappointing and very frustrating that not even one ''PRO'' reviewers on YouTube mention any of this?!
For 1000Euro?! Come on Samsung!
Again big thanks to Comviq for letting me to return S10 back and roll back my old monthly subscription!

Okay so the video camera is low light is not as sharp as the s9 plus. Kind of given up on the quality issue. Try to use the s9plus for filming indoor where I can. Side by side recording, you can clearly see the s9 is sharper. It makes sense why Samsung was happy to take your old device so that you dont know you have just got an accidental downgrade. I bet it is that large plastic piece at the back that causes the distortion. Inferior plastic! Canon SLR pro lenses that I own always boast about height quality lenses.

Yeah, you are right. I expected so much more from the new camera, but was so disappointed when I got it. I've got an S10e, I really like the feel of it, it's fast, but picture quality is terrible. My S7 was way better! I even went to a local Samsung store, but the guys there told me that they don't see any problem with that. So yeah... I also downloaded GCam and it's much better now. :)
