HI Fergie.
It would appear that you have one of your accounts still sync'd on the old phone, probably either a Samsung account or Google account. I would ceetainly first check in the settings-Accounts section to check this. And failing this a reset would be able to remove all the previous accounts and settings without fuss.
Please note if you perfrom a full factory reset you must remove the google account from the device first to avoid a security lockout.
