Now had the S10e for over a month and so regret getting it.
I have used Samsung phones since the S2 and always been impressed with them.
My S8 contract was up and I was considering waiting for the new Google phone as read good reviews about their cameras but decided to stick with Samsung.
The camera on a phone has become one of the most important parts as I had stopped carrying around my larger camera.
Anyway, got the S10e as the curved edges were not important to me as I always case my phones.
Read loads of great reviews for it, all praising the quality of the camera in all lighting conditions.
Anyway my experience with the phone has me believing this is the worst quality camera I have had on any phone.
Photos are blurred, grainy and full of noise.
Low light shots indoors are quite abysmal.
Skin seems to have wax like blobby patches, overall quality of the shots are really poor.
For my first time with a galaxy S phone I feel completely ripped off. I believe there is an update due now but what I have read suggests mostly gimmicks like writing on photos.
Rather than having food shot modes is there any possibility of just having a simple no nonsense auto mode that takes the photo as it should be, no need for beauty mode, bigger eyes etc. Just sharp accurate pictures.
I do truly regret getting this phone and if I was still in cooling off period I would return it.
I am so disheartened with it that I will never, never buy another Samsung phone, it has so annoyed me. I may yet get rid of it and move to the Google phone when I read reviews for it at launch.
I will also be making sure anyone who asks me about it are left in no doubt about the camera issue which I have since found to be well documented but totally ignored on this discussion group.
I find the lack of recognition and response by Samsung to posts on this group to show a total disregard and lack of respect for their customers.

Maybe its because I've been using an SLR for a few years but I agree that the quality of the photos on the S10e is disappointingly poor. I find that the pictures are smudgy and lack detail. People's faces sometimes look like pastel water colors and if you look at the picture I attached to this post you'll see what I mean. Look at the clouds and how smudged they appear. Look at the fairway and lack of detail in spots. Just awful quality.
I did a lot of research on this phone and I have no idea what some of the reviewers see that I don't - maybe their standards for what qualifies as a good photo are different than mine. This phone was obviously a mistake for me.

Normal in Samsung since few years - oversaturration, overexposure, oversharpening, overprocessed HDR. The only solution - take photos in PRO mode or in BURST mode. I had S7 and I was happy. Then I've bought S10e and no way...the last Samsung ever. Look at newer S20 line including the newest S20FE - the same plastic-fantastic awful photos.

Customers do not not get the teleport lens with the S10e and it is only a digital Zoom, may not be the best of pictures in low light. However that being said the camera is still capable of good standard and wide angle shots. It obviously depends on your expectations but may need to tweak settings and do some editing. However if looking for new phone and budget stretches would go for at least standard S10/S20 and you will have better experience. I realise not everyone is happy with the quality of pictures on the latest Samsung devices.
I do not think you will really get a device whose camera is comparable to a DSLR though ( have not used these type of professional cameras myself) https://vsbytes.com/dslr-vs-smartphone-camera/
I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

My main gripe, still, with the camera is that when the S10e was launched, Samsungs own advertising was that this was a professional quality camera.
I am not stupid enough to believe that any phone camera is going to be DLSR quality, but it was their words and if i did not feel that low light picture quality was worse than my previous S8 and S7 I would probably be more accepting of it.
I replace my phone regularly and my wife happily takes my old phone. I mentioned the other day i was considering getting the pixel 5 when i get to see some real life pics from it, her words were, I don't want your old phone.
She is happy to stick with my old S8 rather than take S10e.
Every time I take a picture in low light, she simply states the picture is a mess, enough said.

Samsung downgraded the camera some months (maybe a year) ago. Before that "update" the camera was great. I realized that with the slow-motion function. Bad quality, functions were gone, ... I wrote them, but the answer was only standard-marketing-blabla (customers wanted this feature, etc.).
I'm dissapointed!
I can confirm, that slow-motion videos on my old S7 an other S10 without update, have better quality. I guess photos is the same.
Shame on you Samsung!

Fits my experience with the S10e perfectly. I also simply use the standard settings. I especially see the problem when using the zoom. The pictures have some very strange shadows everywhere, and they are generally out of focus. I have also been using Samsung for many years now, but not being able to get the camera right is just not acceptable. Seems like nothing is being done to fix the problem either. I'll get a phone of a different brand to "fix" the problem.

Same here. My photos when I bought this phone was crisp and clear. But now after 1.5 years, photos are blurry and like a water color paint when zoom in. I was wondering whether Samsung is dropping camera quality via an update or something to push you to buy a newer phone. Like similar to Apple slowing their older version phones via updates.

You are 100% correct. And I feel relieved because before I bought the phone I did try to find a reliable review and all said how fantastic the camera was. But it takes indeed the worst pictures and now I'm stuck with it. And just like you after years of being faithful to Samsung, it's the first time I actually feel like it's time to look elsewhere. Considering good old iPhone or xoami 11 ultra. But I will give it some time to see reliable reviews. Fingers crossed. Thanks for your review atleast I know it was not just me.
