What happened to Alarm ability to "Gradually increase volume"?

Just upgraded from S7 to S10+ and used alarm for the first time this morning. Even at low volume it was so loud that I tweaked my neck when it shocked me out of sleep! 😫 Then I shocked my wife awake with my girlish scream. 😳 What happened to the "gradual increase" option? Why remove a great optional feature like that Samsung? It took less that 24 hours for "new and improved" to become a literal pain in my neck!

I completely agree with all people that posted before me. Why remove useful features?

Same with the dual camera app. I was shocked that was removed. I'm upgrading my phone and I'm losing features.

S7 to s20 fe, same experience. No gradually increasing volume. Might it be Google removing it from android, and adding it to Their alarm clock?

No, it's all Samsung bad decisions or refactoring the code or something. Nothing to do with general Android.

I could not agree more and have the same "issue" with my wife as most people describe here.

Updated from S7 to Note10 Lite.

It is not the first time that Samsung quickly and easily disappoints on software level with changes no one understands or asked for or was asked about it.

They have duzend of options and "features" to collect your data and connect to you. But when it comes to some user feedback changing such things, they are unable to send a simple survey.

Please change it back! This is not complicated.

It's just software and you can even look it up in your (hopefully) versioning system how you implemented it in the past!

This tiny litte useful feature missing is risking the peace of many couples!

I for one will try to install an older version and check which one still has the same features as from my S7, but is not necessarily that old.

Agreed! i miss this option now after upgrading from s9 to the S20 😫 it was so good to have a less intrusive alarm by having it start soft to loud. 

I'm not a morning person, so the sudden sound can give a shock and headache after the  startle when was used to a calmer, more gradual wake up alarm sound.

I second this - you don't by a new phone to see a feature that worked so good to to waste so unnecessarily. Please give us back that feature. It's a shame we need to install a Google app only to get back such basics....

Two questions on this topic:

- Why would you remove a functionality that comes out-of-the-box for other brands and worked in the past and therefore people are used to have that feature

- Why is the alarm volume on minimum level that loud?

+1   another user switching to google clock.  bonus - with google clock you can incorporate google assistant to tell you weather, commute times, calendar events, news, etc after alarm.  and still get a fadein alarm.  no brainer.

Same disappointment here 😭 switched from S5 to A52 and gone was my gentle way to wake up. Tempted to keep using my S5 as my alarm clock. Silly to even have consider that after buying a brand new 2021 phone.

Indeed I do agree. Extremely hesitant to upgrade to anything from my S7 Edge because it seems nowaday 'smartphones' are all about cringy cuts in the displays and plopping out (worthless) megapixel cameras which don't even let you to align the phone on the table properly, and their base usability is totally down the drain.
