I had the same issue on my S9 following the One UI update. It introduced the sleeping apps function so when screen turned off then it put the app to sleep.

If you go to device care -> battery -> 3 dots top right, then 'sleeping apps' option. Remove spotify from list and all should be good.

I had the same issue. Try to go to settings>Apps>spotify>battery>optimise battery usage. Find spotify again and turn the optimising off.

This Issue doesn't seem to want to go away. I have done 'device optimisation' 'sleeping apps' 'allow background running'but nothing has worked yet.

After my phone is locked spotify will cut off after a short while

I recently changed to an S23 Ultra after not having this issue on my S21 Ultra.  After setting up the phone with all the apps again, my first use of Spotify I started getting this error.  Obviously one of the suggested fixes to do a factory reset wasn't appropriate for me but I tried all other noted fixes including uninstalling Smart Switch that I had read could also cause this behaviour.  Nothing worked.

Now, on my phone I use the Duck Duck Go browser, which, by default blocks application trackers.  I happened to look at the stats a week after this issue starting and noted Spotify had attempted to track me over 4,000 times.  This in itself is a rather large concern.  Despite that I turned of f the blocking for Spotify and the issue went away.  I doubly confirmed this as being the cause by turning the tracker blocking on again and went for a 2 hour cycle.  Spotify stopped after 25 minutes, so I turned off blocking again and it has worked ever since.

I'm not sure if other VPNs could cause this issue, but it is worth checking out. I have noted in the past when I used AVG VPN Spotify ads were tailored to the country/language the VPN said you were in.

By copy to Samsung, if you can do something about this, could you please?  I highly suspect you can't and it would be up to Spotify to stop this excessive tracking and/or the VPN providers to provide some sort of work-around.

Thank you for posting this!! I use the DuckDuckGo privacy VPN and have the same problem (S22 Ultra, Spotify stops when the screen is off). I've just flicked it off so let's see if that helps. Thank you'!
