Samsung chat not working s10

I just upgraded from the s9 to the s10. My boyfriend also has the s9. Before upgrading we were able to use the Samsung chat instead of regular sms/mms but now I don't even have the option to turn chat on. I looked over the settings and when I hit the 3 dots at the top right it doesn't even give me the option to toggle chat

Late reply, but did this ever change?

My S10 tries to send chat messages to a friend's S7 - but fails after some time, because she doesn't have data enabled.

I couldn't find anything online...

Hi Emily, just off phone now from Samsung and they say this "chat messaging " will be discontinued. Crazy if you ask me.

They should update message app more often , I like chat settings!!!
