S10 to ethernet?

Trying to connect Galaxy s10 to ethernet. Many online forums say "any ethernet c adapter should work" but nothing happens. I have tried 5 adapters. One worked with my friend's s8 but not my s10. I wonder if there is some setting I should know about? Tried turning off wifi and using airplane mode.

go into settings and connections
from there goto mobile hotspot and tetherings. from there you should be able to select the the option you need

Thank you,  this tells me where to look! However,  it is grayed out and I can't get it to turn on. Any more ideas?

Thanks! I have tried all of those things, and the ethernet remains greyed out.

you might have to connect your c adapter to get your phone to the Internet as it's also greyed out on my phone

Thanks for the replies! Things I have tried:

-various type c adapters (5 different ones)

-turning on/off wifi and mobile data

-connecting through a computer

-software updates

Stays grey

Hi, was there any update on this? Did you manage to resolve this issue as I'm having the same issue right now. Mine says that it connects to the Ethernet, however, it keeps asking me to "set up the Ethernet connection. I've tried setting it up using DHCP or even Static IP and nothing seems to work. 
Is this just a Galaxy S10 thing?

Sadly, no.  Last suggestion I got was a firmware update which sounded way out of my league. I had to give up.

if interested I've immediately figured it out. you need developer options enabled . then toggle
usb debugging and hardware is optional. i forced mine to choose usb tethering as a default (probably not needed) then i restarted my s10 to which it then immediately recognised my usb to ethernet (rj45) you basically want to enable OTG . the adapter you need ,needs to be powered by your phone. check on amazon I payed £14 i think made by UGreen. ( they specify if compatible for mobile)
