S10 Plus Unlocking and Waking In Pocket (Pocket Dialling)

Hi All,

 

Got a problem with my S10+ where its unlocking and operating in my pocket, when a notification comes through it opens the notification and causes havoc with menu's / settings etc. I think it's due to the fact the screen doesn’t "deactivate" when the proximity sensor detects the phone is in a pocket or the accidental touch isn’t working properly.  Is anyone else getting this problem?

 

Below are the details and configurations:

 

  • Proximity sensor works when on a phone call (phone screen goes black)
  • When AOD is active, if you cover the proximity sensor it does not blank the screen (like it did with my S8+ previously)
  • Accidental Touch Protection is on (turning it off makes no difference)
  • Touch Sensitivity is activated (as I am using a screen protector). Taking off the protector and turning off touch sensitivity makes no difference. 
  • Lift to wake is on (turning it off makes no difference)
  • Double to tap to wake is on (turning it off makes no difference)
  • Smart stay is on (turning it off makes no difference)
  • I also have a Gear S3 watch which keeps the phone unlocked whilst in range of the Bluetooth (for my convenience) this is why the notifications open in my pocket and it doesn’t prompt for fingerprint to unlock
  • I've disabled "Smart Relay" within the Gear app as apparently this can cause issues with the S10, but you guessed it. That's not made any difference either.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try turning off the Galaxy S3 gear  in the smart lock, trusted device.

Thanks but it doesn't solve the problem of the AOD menu still being accessed / changed in the pocket or stopping the fingerprint sensor and screen firing up and trying to authenticate every time a notification comes in whilst in my pocket?

Same problem with my phone waking in my pocket while at work. Takes pictures and records video the whole time draining the battery life. This cant be good on the batter itself. Please fix this Samsung, not about to waste $1,000 will be sending this one back and others as long as the problem is not fixed.

Mine is exactly the same my battery is draining fast due to the screen turning on in my pocket and multiple apps opening even the torch turning on a few times. Ive even had it turn on my data and or turn off my wifi which if this goes unnoticed could be costly.I have tried all that you have tried as well to stop this happening but nothing stops the screen turning on. Unfortunately I will have to return the phone if this problem is not resolved quickly.

ATTENTION!! I also had the issues folk are complaining about , screen waking up on its own and also in pocket , it was driving me mad , i went to Samsung online support , and i asked to be connected to a "Samsung star" who are a group of gurus that can after you download small app from the Playstore will connect to your phone remotely and have a look for you , there were a couple of setting changed and within 10 minutes i was cured , no update , no Samsung fixes , the Samsung star guy just changed a few settings and as if by magic everything works as it should , no more screen lighting up on its own , no more in pocket illuminations , now all you thousands of folk out there waiting for a samsung fix , its not needed and its not coming , too many folk too quick to jump and shout ...its a fault its a fault ...yes its our fault not samsungs ..we should learn more about our phones and stop hanging around waiting for samsung to come along with a fix when its not needed , my phone now working perfectly well,ied the message i

I can not disagree with you enough. Its not my problem its Samsungs. Also would you care to share the magical fix which I'm too stupid to work out for myself?

hi , read my post , i went online chat and was passed to a "samsung star" who connected to my phone remotely and sorted it , i also was too stupid to change a few setting.

hahaha i dont know what to tell you , i have a 100% working samsung s10+ after the samsung star adjusted some settings, and it no longer comes to life in pocket , if they really dont have a clue as in your case you would be perfectly entitled to ask for a replacement as your phone is faulty in your opinion , i thought i knew a lot about phones until i spoke to this guy he had more than a clue and totally lost me most of the time, good luck with your enquiry at your local support centre.
