S10 Fingerprint set up not working

Trying to set up the fingerprint scanner and it's not working. Sometimes I get the below error

Sometimes I can get to the next stage where you place your thumb/finger on the sensor but it doesn't acknowledge my inputs or scan my fingerprint. Any ideas? I have cleared the cache and tried restarting already.

it can be if the cover or screen protector is too thick I had this ,thinner screen protector worked

I did wonder that but have not put a screen protector on it yet highlander. I did read Samsung put a cheap plastic cover on their phones but mine doesn't seem to have one on. If it did have a cheap plastic factory protector would you expect the message on the screenshot I provided saying fingerprint is not working? I am starting to think it might be my dry skin, I have moisturised so will have to check again. Could just be a fault unique to my particular phone, not sure as yet.
