Hei there,

Samsung S10e.

When turning on the phone i get very often an annoying pop up message "open channel for BIP". I didn't find much online to solve the problem, any help?

Thanks

Hi there,

The "Open channel for BIP" message is a message coming from the fact that an application in the SIM is trying to establish an outgoing data connection.

It can be either the removable SIM from your operator, or an embedded SIM (eSIM) if your handset supports one (there are eSIM on S20. Not sure for S10e)

I have spent 5 hours trying to fix this and I have found the issue.

The popup "open channel to BIP" is actually sent by the "Phone" app (built into galaxy apps).

It means "[Phone app] is trying to open a channel with Barrier Independent Protocol to collect data for sim card"

My Solution:

Enable "Mobile data" (LTE/4g/ 3g) and ensure it is using the correct SIM (if you have two sim cards)

Restart the phone.

When it restarts it will say "Refreshing SIM data" and boom, no more pop-ups

I hope this helps someone

Me too have the same issue.  I am using Samsung A50. But I didn't get the pop up message when opened in Safe mode. Could you please help on this?

My understanding is that this is not necessarily an error message or a problem in itself.  If your phone is conne to a network or to wifi, Samsung device "offers" an open channel for BIP since the apps installed in the phone allow for that.
