Messages app issue after september update

Hi all.

I installed the september update yesterday and now have two issues when using the messages app. The first one is once the app has loaded app is a grey sliding animation goes from the top to the bottom of the screen, which didn't happen previously. Also the options button has an Orange colored "N" over it which links to settings\chat settings, however when I click on chat settings i get a connection problem message along with that odd sliding animation again.

Any ideas what this may be?

@jayjay801: Following an update it can be beneficial to perform a Soft Reset to address any temporary issues that may have arisen. To proceed, press the Volume Down and Power buttons together for around 10 seconds until the phone restarts, then open the Messages app to see if the issue has persisted. The 'N' is drawing your attention to a new feature, therefore if you're able to access the settings then simply tap on the relevant feature with the 'N' next to it to remove the notification. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. I just tried a soft reset and it hasn't solved it unfortunately. Appreciate the suggestion  though

That happened to me, I thought I had a dodgy update so I googled it and it suggested downloading messages from the play store which I did. The messages I downloaded worked so made it my primary message app

I was using Android Messenger, however after an update my second sim fails on sending any messages. I have checked all the setting in Samsung Messenger, I've reinstalled Android Messenger nothing has helped. And yes Android Messenger was set as my default.

I don't know what Samsung does in their coding, but it is a complete and utter mess. They attempt at fixing one thing and break 2 other things. Unless this was done on purpose so that we're forced to use their inferior product of a messenger.

Thank you! I've been having this issue for 2 days! I went to the Samsung store who did a factory reset on my phone and it's come back. Please help find a solution to this!

So went to the shop today and it's happening to the guy's phone too. He said he will report it and once they are aware of it, they should send out a fix. He said something about a week

I've gone back to using messages from the app store. It wasn't so much the chat settings that annoyed me, it was that animation that kept on happening when I opened the app. Hopefully it'll be fixed in the next update.

Hi Guys

This has been doing this on my s10+ since the new update, Its definitely a bug 

if you press and hold the messages app icon ,then app info , settings cog ,chat settings it works ok !

Hope they update with a fix soon
