Galaxy S10e Manual Focus IS BROKEN

Hello everyone!

I've got Galaxy S10e (international Exynos version) this summer and noticed issue with Manual Focus in Camera's Pro mode: manual focus "to infinity" doesn't work, long distance objects are blurry, which makes it impossible to do long exposure night shots with Galaxy S10e (such a shame, especially after Android 10 update which introduced higher ISO and longer exposure time in manual mode). I had camera on my phone replaced, but the problem is still there (not as obvious as before replacement, but there is still some unfocus blur). I had tested about ~10 phones in local stores and all Galaxy S10e had this manual focus problem! Galaxy S10 and S10+ seem to be unaffected though.

Moreover, my girlfriend and my sister both own an Galaxy S9+ and both phones also have this manual focus issue! Looks like Samsung uses older main camera module on Galaxy S10e! My old Galaxy S7 and my parent's Galaxy S8s didn't have any problems with manual focus and I expeced the same from "superior" S10 series.

My thoughts: there are deviations in camera module manufacturing proceess, which aren't accounted by camera software, but Samsung doesn't care or engineers are not aware of this issue. And Galaxy S10e equipped with worse camera than other S10 family devices.

Will this issue be fixed? And is there any way I can contact Samsung software engineers directly? I've tried to find Samsung engineers working on camera on LinkedIn, but it looks like all of them live in South Korea and I couldn't message them due to lack of connections in this area.

Signed up to say I'm having the same issue.

It is ruining the very reason I bought the phone - capturing good photos and footage.

I have bought FilmicPro and Moment Pro apps to take better photos and film, but they are all wasted due to the manual focus issue.

Is Samsung aware of this or fixing it?

This was the only thread I could find about this S10e specific issue.

Hi guys,

also signed up to say I'm having the same issue.
Actually i have the snapdragon version of the s10e, seems that this does not make a difference.

Manual Focus is not working as you said, but unfortunately Auto-Focus is not working as well so pictures with the main rear camera (10cm+ apart) are not possible at all... Very sad about that.

Please Samsung do something about that, should be not too hard probably
