I have not found a way to do that either, unless the setting for it is hidden someplace as their settings are convoluted and all over the place.
I came from OP6 as well, and although I had many issues with their software, at least I was able to use 3rd party apps without interference unlike on Samsung. The OP dialer was pretty good, in particular with VM combined in with it.
I don't expect basic functionality to be missing on a device that is priced about $500 more than the OP6.

It's a real deal braker for me, not smart at all for a 2019 smartphone!

It is most annoying especially when trying to use speed dial! It's seems such an easy thing to implement aswell on the contact details page. I hope Samsung can take note and update this soon!

Just adding to the same, I just switched back to Samsung after a few years. Is the lack of a sim to contact link an android 9 issue that Google dropped it or is it Samsung's one ui version that has drop the function. My prime reason for dual sim is to keep separate work and personal calls, which was easy on my android 6 - 7 phone.
Samsung please tell us you are bringing sim to contact linking back in one ui.

It is so bad that this isn't out of box but I use dual sim selector and have done for years, does the trick

It's a very easy thing to implement and I've had it on other android devices....... you would think that since Samsung was so late to the party on dual sims they would not have taken shortcuts.....

My suggestion doesn't even work anyway because of the way Samsung has their system (2 different call buttons)
I emailed support because it's dangerous that I have to interact with my phone whilst driving to make business or personal call

Has zero to do with 2 different buttons to make the call, every phone app i've had with dual sim have had this and I still had this ability.
It has to do with the poor coding by Samsung. You can try using a different phone app and see if you find one that works with the shoddy coding.

Go to Settings->Connections->SIM Card Manager you have the section 'Preferred SIM Card' and you can choose there the preferred SIM for calls, texts and mobile data.
Edit:
I guess this is not the correct answer, but now I can not delete the answer so sorry for misguidance.
