Why won't my bluetooth connect to anything is there a setting that I need to turn on

I have got a Samsung s10 it was the same on my s8 I am wondering if I have disabled something

In order to connect your S10 to compatible Bluetooth devices, you will need to follow these steps:

-From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
-Tap Settings > Connections.
-Tap the Bluetooth switch to turn on.
-Tap Bluetooth. If your mobile device stops scanning before your Bluetooth device is ready, tap SCAN.

did that found the bt but said this couldnt pair check settings on device

Is this happening with all the Bluetooth devices? Is the phone visible if you look for it from a different device? If so, please restart the phone and try this again.
