Hi!

When I take a photo with flash from a dark place it comes out like this:

Happening to anyone else?

It's a great camera actually for me,during day and night. Night mode really helps. But yeah, when the room is a bit darker it gets grainy. I've set 16:9 ratio and 1080 for rear camera and it has best balance of light and stability. Full screen has the best visibility in the darker areas but it kinda drops FPS.

Hey, you've seemed to have put in a lot of effort into increasing the camera quality on your phone. Have you ever tried cleaning the camera itself with a clean cloth?

It should help a lot as your camera sensor may be dirty

do you use a camera protecive film? (i do) if it is thick or has no flash coutout it can cause that strange effect.

I have not been having issue with the camera quality lately, apart form the 2x optical which does not produce great results, i do not why actually.

I use the camera configured that way: main cameras at 4:3 aspect ratio (which uses full sensor and give better fov compared to other formats), hdr on olny when necessary, bixby on (but i turn it off sometimes to get a better shot in certain scenarios), .heif file format and auto correction of ultra wide angle distortion.

for videos i am setted up with 16:9 at 1080p 30fps to be able to use all camera and i have the stabilisation turned on from the settings (normal stabilisation, not supersteady which kills bitrate)

Have to be honest, i hate the camera on this phone, think it is really poor, however, for the issue you are having, do you have a  case on the phone. I had this happen with one of my previous samsung phones (can't remember which one, just remember it had a better camera hahaha) anyway, the case i was using reflected some of the flash back in to the sensor.

I managed to get round it by colouring round the rim of the camera cut out with a black marker pen.

If you have a case, try taking it off and see if problem still happens. if yes try black pen round edge of cut out or  a new case.

Good luck.
