Hello All,
After updating to android 9, the Portrait lock/Auto Rotate option is missing from my phone. I cant find it in settings or anywhere, I even tried a full settings reset but still unable to find it. I am attaching a screenshot of my notification pull down drawer. the option is no where to be seen. Please help been struggling with this for long.

Hi Guys,
I had the same problem. The way to solve it is to first go into settings/display/Screen resolution select FHD+. then from the top of the screen drag down to find a new quick button called portrait. click on it and it will turn on the auto rotate. you can now change the resolution for the display back to WOHD+(or the setting you had previously). The Auto-Rotate button will continue to be there.
Good luck.

I had the same exact problem been p*****g me off for months now. BUT I HAVE THE EASY FIX. I had to redownload the software off the galaxy store.
Go to your Galaxy store (not play store.) Type in the search bar auto rotate. And download the app that has the 4 phones in a circle like the phone rotates. This will bring back your phones auto rotate icon and work like a champ.

I have found That since the update when I Turn my phone there will be a little tiny telephone show up in the corner and if I tap that my screen will rotate. I hope you find this helpful

I have a GS9. I didn't even need to go to the three dots. When my auto rotate stopped working, I couldn't find the auto rotate button, to turn it back on. It's simply because it is now relabeled as the portrait button. Click that, and it turns back into auto rotate.

Hey everyone with the auto rotation problem, there is a solution. Pull down your screen and tap on the portrait option that then will turn on rotation again. The portrait option is new with the new download. Hopefully this will end your nightmare. Have a good day use social distance stay home and be well. We will get through all of this.

So we found it and it's just stupid. It's in your setting buttons still, but here's the kicker. When you have it off, grayed out, it CHANGES. It goes from saying auto-rotate when it's blue, to saying Portrait when it's gray.
