Original topic:

Why do I need to buy a case! Who agrees?

So I spend a lot of money on a beautiful phone then I have to buy a case and screen protector to protect it from the inevitable damage of daily life - but why?

Why doesn't Samsung make phones that already have protection but are still beautiful? Surely this would be a huge selling point.

Who else agrees with me?

I agree that may be the case (no pun intended) for some but don't agree that it is "more often than not" becuase I am 100% certain that most people fit a case and or screen protector for protection.

Yes I believe they do want protection but sometimes as a secondary purpose.  :winking-face:

I wish you well with your next purchase choice.

Take care.

I agree @BandOfBrothers.  There seems to be more of a market for cheap cases with glitter and unicorns in them than there does for high end decent protection and I would question how much protection they actually provide.  My Note 9 has the same kind of clear Tech21 case as I had on my S7 Edge and I intend to invest in a Dome Glass screen protector at some point after Christmas.  However, I would suggest to the OP that anyone who has a job where they require sufficient protection from regular knocks and drops is not going to be using a £1000-£1100 Note 9 or even a S9/S9+ as their daily driver.  I certainly wouldn't.

My job does not add any extra risk in terms of the safety of my phone. However, even in everyday life, when a phone is carried about all the time, it will inevitbaly be dropped at some point. My point is why do we spend £1000 on a beautiful looking phone and then have to immediately buy a case to protect it; I think that manufacturers should offer an option to have the phone already protected but for it still to look asthetically stunning.

@Typhoon1944 and @BandOfBrothers just returned to this thread. Have to say that you are both arguing against Samsung making a phone that is already protected when both of you have bought cases and screen protectors for your phones!
There is no doubt in my mind that Samsung could make phones that already had in built protection. The guts of the phone could be the same it would just be the outside that would be different.

@Furthy34

I've always added a case to add grip primarily which I've mentioned already in this in this nearly 4 year old thread !

I use a glass screen protector because I prefer the feel of this to a plastic variant and I don't want micro scratches on my display.

Yes and so wouldn't it be better if you didn't have to do that!
